Sustainable and FSC accredited timber

Cresta Building Products are able to supply insulation support blocks in a choice of materials. Depending on the temperatures that they are going to be used at these include Calcium Silicate, Phenolic and wood.

The main timber currently used in the production of the wooden support blocks is Obeche, sometimes known as Wawa. This is a light weight timber, although classified as a hard wood, which is forested from managed plantations in Ghana.

However, to meet the increasing need of our customers to demonstrate that they are constructing buildings from sustainable materials, Cresta have selected a FSC certified material for the production of these products.

One of the most well known accreditation bodies is the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). See www.fsc.org. If the timber used in manufacture is sourced from an FSC accredited source then it is possible to trace the timber back to its origins and prove that it has been forested from a re-forested place and in a sustainable way. The companies involved, in the supply process will each be policed by the FSC and be able to demonstrate a 'chain of custody' of the timber from the plantation through to the merchant.

When we supply the FSC support blocks you are provided with a 'Certificate Of Conformity' which will state that the products supplied have been manufactured from timber which originated from an FSC accredited source.
